Our History
“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” – Mahatma Gandhi
These words inspired the founding of Bring The Change in 2019. Built on the idea that real transformation begins from within, our organization was launched in Reading, Pennsylvania, with a focus on local action with global impact.
Founder Alexander Civil, a community activist, drew on his experiences growing up in Haiti and traveling through Latin America and Africa. He witnessed firsthand how communities were held back, often waiting for external help instead of igniting change themselves. This realization, paired with the words of JFK — “Ask not what your country can do for you…” — led him to create an organization dedicated to empowering people to take charge of their futures.
Bring The Change exists because we believe “we the people” hold the true power to shape our communities and our world.
